CHAPTER MEETING & GUEST SPEAKER

4:30 - 5:30 p.m. - "An End-State Approach to Hanford Cleanup" by Scott Sax from PNNL.

SCOTT SAX

Scott Sax is the President and Project Manager for the Central Plateau Cleanup Company. On Jan. 25, his team assumed day-to-day operations of Hanford’s 10-year, $10 billion Central Plateau Cleanup Contract.

Mr. Sax’s 36 years in the nuclear industry include a wide variety of Hanford experience: leading the Amentum effort on the Waste Treatment Plant, completing cleanup at Hanford’s River Corridor
as the President of Washington Closure Hanford (WCH), and serving as Chief Operating Officer of Washington River Protection Solutions at Hanford’s tank farms.

Prior to WCH, Sax was responsible for the Spent Fuel Management Directorate at the Sellafield, UK site. There, he was accountable for a $440 million annual budget and a 2,500 member workforce. His responsibilities included the executive management for the planning, staffing, control, commercial business, and operational execution of spent fuel processing for Sellafield Ltd. Additional responsibilities included operation of the Thorp reprocessing plant, the Magnox reprocessing plant, the Plutonium
Management Facilities and associated support facilities and functions. Sax began his career with the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratories and has spent the majority of his years with GMOS or legacy companies.

Mr. Sax holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado. He holds an MBA from the University of Montana and is a Certified Project Manager.

He has been married to Lauri for 30 years and has three grown daughters. During his spare time he is interested in hunting, fishing, reading, and spending time in the mountains away from the bustle of civilization.
