Presenting "PM of Tomorrow" by Dr. Matt Taubman:
Dr Matt Taubman is a physicist, project manager, and staff manager at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. His emergent passion is helping people be the best they can be, to help guide them to understand who they are, allowing them to actively navigate their professional growth. As a physicist and electronics engineer, Dr Taubman has a unique view of the inner workings of the things that surround us. As an expressive and a people-oriented individual, this has come to include people. Over his career, including his 23 years at PNNL, Dr Taubman has observed the changing relationship between the fundamental unit of work, the project, and the fundamental resource unit of any organization, the staff member. Evolving technology and collective awareness, and the rapidly increasing availability of information has changed the nature of this relationship. It is Dr Taubman’s belief that Project Management is at a critical juncture. It is no longer just about what needs to be done, and when. It is also about who is doing the work, and where they are going. Only then can the Project Manager form effective teams within a project structure, teams that are cogent and resilient. As a strategic partner and a thought leader Dr Taubman has witnessed the need for innovation and adaptability in choosing optimal courses of action in light of changing funding climates and evolving corporate landscapes.
These are the interview questions that the PMs of tomorrow must have ready for their staff, both old and new.
- Who are you?
- Where are you going?
- What part of our journeys can we walk together?
- How can we help each other succeed?
